Vascular Ultrasound
Vascular Ultrasound specializes in the imaging of the veins and arteries, which can assist the radiologist in visualizing and evaluating blockages to blood flow. Two types of blockages are clots in veins and plaque in arteries. Common uses for this particular ultrasound include:
- To determine whether a patient is a candidate for angioplasty;
- To plan/review the success of procedures that graft or bypass blood vessels;
- To reveal blood clots that require treatment; and
- To identify blockages of blood flow in the neck arteries to the brain that could cause a stroke.
