 Nuclear Medicine is a branch of radiology that studies more about organ function and less about anatomy. Nuclear Medicine uses very small amounts of radiopharmaceuticals (radioactive material) to diagnose and treat disease.

Prep Instructions: Thyroid up/scan: Contact facility for instruction. Renal/Vasotec: No ace inhibitor 48 hours prior to exam. Thallium Stress Test: Nothing by mouth after midnight. Biliary Scan/GBEF: Nothing by mouth after midnight. Gastric Empty: Nothing by mouth after midnight.
